Some of our followers might have noticed the mentions of Samadhi’s upcoming performances in Russia and we are happy to confirm that this season the company will in fact be performing in the beautiful city of Moscow!
Over a year ago the company commenced a special partnership with the Russian Kirtan and Art Foundation led by Shaktyavesha Avatara Dasa and Natalia Fedotova. The visionary foundation expressed an interest in representing Samadhi’s work in Russia, starting in Moscow with the full evening performance of the Mahabharata-themed production ‘ATMA’ feat. the Russian singer Ananda Monet. And after many meetings and thorough research this desire has now come into being! On Wednesday November 29 at 20:00hr the full performance of ‘ATMA‘ will be presented at the beautiful venue known as ZIL Cultural Centre, the first and largest palace of culture in Moscow.
Over the last couple of months the Kirtan and Art Foundation has been working vigorously on introducing the company through various Russian media outlets from which a few can be found on our site’s news page, such as the interviews with Vraja Sundari by Ayurveda & Yoga Magazine Russia. National campagnes followed to promote this grand performance which has led to diverse invitations for Sundari to perform specific solo works at prestigious events such as TedX Women and the annual GEO awards in Moscow. Meanwhile in the Netherlands and the UK, Sundari with her team of dancers and singer Ananda Monet are working intensively on preparing ‘ATMA’ for its Russian audience and the timeless story continues to bring the artists to new levels of both introspection and physical expression.
‘ATMA’ held its first presentation back in May 2015 at the Camden Center in London during the releases of Jahnavi Harrison‘s album ‘Like a River to the Sea’ and Ananda Monet’s album ‘Inevitable Time’ which formed the base of Sundari’s choreography for ‘ATMA’. On December 11 of the same year the full evening performance of ‘ATMA’ premiered successfully at Theater de Meervaart in Amsterdam as part of Samadhi’s 2nd edition of 2FOLD titled ‘2FOLD Atma/Gopika‘. Ever since ‘ATMA’ has been performed in various countries such as The Netherlands, Belgium, United Kingdom, Germany, Bulgaria and now for the first time in Russia.
Although we ourselves have experienced the powerful energy of ‘ATMA’ on and off stage, none of us however could predict we would be performing this extraordinary performance for almost 3 years now! Needless to say the team feels inspired and blessed to have the opportunity to keep evolving, performing and finetuning this one of a kind project.
