‘Hard Heart’ by Keli feat. Samadhi Dance Company
Shining light into cloudy and turbulent times, we are excited to share the delightful new music video ‘Hard Heart’, Samadhi’s latest collaboration with upcoming music artist Keli (UK). A fresh, highly talented multi-instrumentalist and brilliant songwriter, rooted in Bhakti-yoga (yoga of the heart), Keli’s music brings authenticity, lightness and sincerity with an unexpected artistic take on the beautiful philosophy of this form of yoga. His work and approach is like a breathe of fresh air, emanating feel good vibes reminiscent of ’40s jazz.
Samadhi choreographer Vraja Sundari felt an instant connection and clear understanding of Keli’s vision when the collaboration commenced, even though all communication had to happen online. Another like-minded spirit, aiming to uplift others through genuine artistic expression.
She immediately knew the collaboration would result in something very special and Sundari felt extremely inspired to start and set up the team to direct the film. Blessed with her beautiful team, fabulous Samadhi dancers Annlydie Groenen and Victor Swank as well as cinematographer Lars Steenhoff all felt excited and grateful to contribute in making Keli’s vision manifest.
Adding to Keli’s team of wonderfully gifted artists were Bhakti artist Bali Rico from the famous mantra music band ‘The Mayapuris’, who brilliantly produced the track with Keli. Bhakti artist Jaggi Suta Das who mixed the track with his own touch of genius, an exquisite string arrangement by Julian Cartwright and expert video editing by Gala del Sol.
The result is a flowing, dynamic, seemingly effortless and quirky music video, wonderfully embodying the chilled-out feel of the music yet expressing the heartfelt lyrics.
It was such a blessing for us to work with this extraordinary team, to contribute to Keli’s artistic vision and to work with Keli himself; a sincere, humble and humorous artist, going beyond the surface and bringing light to others on his artistic journey. No doubt a powerful debut and this is just the beginning for this promising new artist! Keli’s debut album ‘Falling Upwards’ will be released soon and there is no doubt that it will warm many more hard hearts across the globe!
A few words from the artist himself:
“At a time in my life whilst living as a monk in an ashrama and practicing spiritual life strictly, I began to encounter aspects of myself that were uncomfortable to deal with. Sometimes it can seem easier to run away from your problems than to face them. If you run away for too long, you can be left feeling very numb emotionally and unable to express yourself in a satisfying way. This can lead to frustration and confusion. I wonder if you have ever experienced such a thing ? The human being is so complex, and understanding one’s nuances, abilities and shortcomings seem to be a big part of life’s ultimate goal towards self realisation. I have tried to express these honest and common experiences through the profound vehicle of Art, Music and Dance. I had the great fortune of collaborating with a whole team of genius spiritual artists to help me bring this vision to life.”
